Rewrite The Scene Presents: 8 Bands to See on This Year’s Warped Tour

June 17, 2011 Featured, News, Segments 0 Comments

We are a week away from this year’s Warped Tour and this year’s impressive line-up has gotten many people overwhelmed. We at Rewrite the Scene wanted to inform you guys on some of the bands that are a must-see on this year’s Warped Tour. The only catch is, these bands are not playing the main stage! Get hyped for these bands, you will not regret it.

Patent Pending

(Playing 7/7-7/9, 7/12-7/14 and 7/17-8/2) on the Dzambo Stage

Long Island’s own Patent Pending is an absolute must to see on this year’s Warped Tour and for good reason. Their music video for “One Less Heart To Break” reached #1 on the MTV music video charts and they aren’t slowing down from here. They will be releasing a full length album this July along with a covers album. P-Unit can back up this hype too, as they have one of the most impressive live shows that I have ever. Just remember, the last time they played the Warped Tour, they rocked so hard that they literally broke the barricade that separates the stage from the crowd!

MC Lars with Weerd Science:

(Playing Whole Tour) on The Skullcandy Stage

MC Lars is more punk than you! The self proclaimed “Post-Punk Laptop Rapper” is playing the entire Warped Tour this year. Playing with Weerd Science (Drummer of Terrible Things and Ex-Drummer of Coheed and Cambria), MC Lars is bound to get you moving and put on a show that you will never forget. I just have one question for MC Lars fans, Who do you think will play Hearts That Hate?

The Expendables

(Playing Whole Tour) on The Tilly’s/Alternative Press Stage

Relax and take a deep breathe…. that’s if you are planning to be in the sky. The Expendables are a must hear for everyone that claims they are a fan of Reggae. Their dope sound and mellow vibe is perfect for the Warped Tour. They aren’t in your face, but they are a necessity to see on the Warped Tour.

Big D and The Kids Table

(Playing Whole Tour) on The Tilly’s/Alternative Press Stage

After performing on the Warped Tour two years ago in support of their album Fluent in Stroll, Big D and the Kids Table are back supporting their newest album For the Damned, the Dumb, and the Delirious! We’re curious to see if they have the girls from Tip The Van singing back up with them, but either way, they’re an exciting show. Their raw energy and amazing stage presence makes them one of the most desirable bands to see. We just have one message for them. WHEN THE CROWD CHANTS “L.A.X.”, YOU SHOULD PLAY “L.A.X.”

Lionize

Lionize is the most underrated band on this years Warped Tour. The first time I saw Lionize was when they opened up for Streetlight Manifesto at the Crazy Donkey. Well, a lot has changed since then and upon seeing them playing the Warped Tour Kick-Off Party, I was in shock. They were awesome. Kevin Lynman has even stated that Lionize will be the band to breakout this year. Note, Kevin has a pretty good knack for finding breakout bands (See: Katy Perry, No Doubt, Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, Mike Posner, Kid Rock, Eminem etc. etc.).

Less Than Jake

(Playing Whole Tour) on The Tilly’s/Alternative Press Stage

How the fuck is this band not playing the main stage? No…. Seriously. How the fuck are they not playing the main stage. I try not to curse a lot on Rewrite The Scene, but fuck…. that pisses me off. Less Than Jake is a premier act on the Warped Tour. Warped Tour vets for over 6 Warped Tours, many being on the main stage, their energetic set mixed with rowdiness of the crowd will insure nothing but an awesome time. Less Than Jake is Warped Tour.

The Exposed

(Playing Whole Tour) on The Kia Kevin Says Stage

For those who don’t know the Exposed that well, lets make it clear that these guys want to play the Warped Tour. I found out about these guys after seeing them perform a song during the middle of the Bouncing Souls set last year in Hartford. The Bouncing Souls digged these guys so much that they let them perform on their own set time. Now you can receive your fix of the Exposed in a full set! Punk Rock and Ska fans unite, this is one band that you CANNOT miss.

The Wonder Years

The Wonder Years are here and are better than ever. After releasing the best album so far in 2011, The Wonder Years are going to be headed on this years Warped Tour. We can guarantee that if you like pop-punk, you are bound to LOVE the Wonder Years. After watching them during the Warped Tour Kick-Off Party there is no doubt that these guys belong to play on this years Warped Tour.

Bands we would have suggested if they weren’t playing less than 5 dates:
Bowling for Soup (Playing 8/12-8/14) on the Ernie Ball Stage
Freshman 15 (Playing 6/24-6/30) on the Ernie Ball Stage
Continental (Playing 8/11-8/14) on the Kia Kevin Says Stage
Gatsbys American Dream (Playing 8/13) on the Nintendo 3DS Stage
