The first show included No Age, HEALTH, and Cults, and an upcoming show that will include, Fucked Up, Cro-Mags, and Screaming Females. The House of Vans is a large warehouse/skate park with a big stage, and a wide open outdoor area serving free beer as well. When you have legends like Keith Morris and Superchunk headlining a free show you’re bound see hundreds of fans, and other musicians in the audience as well, like Ted Leo, who was spotted hanging around the sound board.

Lemuria who are a Buffalo based band came out with their fun and variable pop-punk sound, distorted guitars, punk beats and amazing singing/songwriting which the crowd was attentively watching and very much into. You can hear influences of the Breeders and the headliner Superchunk in this band.

OFF!, just the band name alone makes you want to hit something. OFF! is made up of hardcore legends singer Keith Morris of Circle Jerks & Black Flag, Dimitri Coats of Burning Brides, Steven McDonald of Redd Kross, and Mario Rubalcaba of Rocket From the Crypt & Hot Snakes. The band came out with their usual hardcore punk sounding intensity, with a handful of people slam dancing, and plenty of shoving in the front, including a person who was bleeding all over and still continued to go at it. The band played many of their great songs off their album First 4 EP’s (literally 4 EP’s), including Panic Attack, Jeffrey Lee Pierce, and I don’t belong. Keith is still a punk at age 55.

Superchunk, 90’s alternative legends were headlining the show who are made up of singer/guitarist Mac McCaughan, guitarist Jim Wilbur, bassist Laura Ballance, and drummer Jon Wurster. They came out full of energy, jumping all over the place, blasting their power-punk. You can tell the bands fans were in the house from the large crowd in front of the stage jumping up and down and singing the lyrics word for word along with the band. The set list varied from many of Superchunk’s albums over the years from the song “Sick to Move” from their first self-titled album from 89’ to “Digging for Something” on their newest 2010 album Majesty Shredding. During the encore, Keith Morris decided to perform with Superchunk. Singing “Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie” by his first band Black Flag and “Where Eagles Dare” by the Misfits, you can see a youtube video of it here. The encore ended with the explosive song “Hyper Enough” from the Superchunk album, Here’s Where the Strings Come In.
