[Interview] Drive A

Can you tell us who you are?
Bruno: My name is Bruno and I sing and play guitar for Drive A.
RTS Nick: Where are you from?
Bruno: We are from Los Angeles.

I’ve read recently that there was some controversy over you guys on the Bamboozle Road Show. What happened?
Bruno: Uh, Well we played several of the dates on this tour at Six Flags and when we play I swear a lot. That’s just how I talk. I tried to make a point to go out in the crowd every show and Six Flags had all these rules that I didn’t know and I really didn’t give a fuck about. So, we went there and the first thing we did was we started swearing and a bunch of security guards went around the stage. By the time I went out onto the crowd, I pushed one of the security guards and he said “Go back on stage.” I said, “Fuck you I’m not hurting anyone. I’m just out here singing. What’s the big deal?” That’s about it. It was just a bunch of stupid shit. Six Flags security was retarded.
RTS Nick: Apparently you almost got arrested.
Bruno: Yeah, there were security guards at first and they actually had cops come to the side of the stage. After, I was just like, “Are you going to arrest me for some bullshit like that.” After the show, I just put my shit away and I just walked right out.
RTS Nick: I’m just trying to figure out what they can charge you with at all.
Bruno: I have no idea, but I didn’t want to deal with any bull shit, so I said “Fuck this.”

Were you aloud at the New Jersey date, or was only All Time Low banned?
Bruno: We were aloud there actually. I think if we were on the main stage for that show, they would have banned us. I think because we were on the side stage and not that many people saw it, they were like alright.
RTS Nick: That’s pretty hypocritical.
Bruno: Yeah it was complete bullshit over there.
RTS Nick: Either ban both bands or ban none.
Bruno: All Time Low did half of what we did. I told security to fuck off and no one in our crowd got maced or anything. I just told them to fuck off. I think because of us, security got really tight and ended up banning All Time Low.
RTS Nick: Do you think that you were the start of this?
Bruno: I think we started all that bullshit.

Besides that, how have the shows been?
Bruno: They have been amazing. These bands aren’t my favorite type of bands on this tour, but we’ve been exposed to another type fan base. We are grateful for that opportunity.

I know that this is not your usual type of music that you listen to, but are there any bands that you have liked.
Bruno: Yeah, just Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, because I was raised in that whole thing.

Well, that brings me to the question; Why the Bamboozle Roadshow?
Bruno: Well, our booking agent gave us out. He said, “This tour is going out and they’d be down if you wanted to play.” Well, that beats the hell out of being at home.

Is there going to be a tour following this?
Bruno: Right after this we are going to write a new record. We will write and record it this summer. In September we will hit the road. The bands aren’t completely finalized yet.
RTS Nick: Can you name any bands for me?
Bruno: I can’t yet. We are about a week away from that. This is going to be cool; it’s going to be a big tour.

How was the success of the last album?
Bruno: It was cool. It was the first album and it was basically being sold in our live show only. We didn’t have much promotion behind the last album. We didn’t really want that though. We wanted it to grow organically. I think it did what we wanted to do and it actually got our foot into the door.

Thank you for doing this interview and I look forward to hearing from you guys in the future:
Bruno: Thank you.
