To some of us, they were the biggest part of our childhood. Now, dropping in the middle of the 10th annual Honda Civic Tour, Blink 182 is back with a new album since 2003. Bringing back their original sound, with a taste of something new and something very Angels and Airwaves-ish, Blink 182 most certainly did not disappoint their fans.

Blink opens their new CD titled Neighborhoods with their usual sound with the song “Ghost On The Dance Floor”. The genius lyrics mixed with the typical Blink 182 sound is enough to put a smile on any Blink fan. The CD changes a bit when you get to the third track, “Up All Night”- while it’s still Blink, the overall sound has an Angels and Airwaves kick to it. Personally, I dig it. For those of you who weren’t fans of A&A, have no fear. You get your old school Blink 182 sound back after the “Heart’s All Gone Interlude”. Basically, Blink 182 has done what every successful band has been trying to for years; come out with a new album, stick to their old sound but create something new without letting the fans down. They knew what they could do, and they stuck to it, but their time apart with different projects showed them what more they could do with their sound.

The one song that is constantly on repeat in my head is “Wishing Well” because, quite frankly, it’s catchy. The music is light and fast paced, the chorus is fun to sing to and they even have those nifty “ladidada dadidada’s” that get stuck in your head and make you want to sing out loud, even if you’re in the middle of class. Well, that last bit may just be me and the fact that I have zero focus, but the point remains the same. The song is catchy, but not annoying, and fun to sing along to.

One of the things I have always loved about Blink was the combination of Mark and Tom’s voice on the same track. I just about burst with joy when I heard the song Natives due to the fact that Tom steps up to sing the chorus. It brought back crazy middle school memories of me dancing in my bedroom to their self-titled album when it first came out.

Neighborhoods is definitely worth the eight year infinite hiatus. However, I think I speak for most Blink fans when I say I think I’ll go crazy if I have to wait another decade for an album.
